The Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire 3 Pack is a re-release set of three Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire water blasters originally released in 2014. It was the smallest new model for the 2014 Nerf Super Soaker line; the 2015 re-release appears to be the same blaster, but now in assorted colours. It is a trigger-based blaster with a 85mL (~2.8oz.) reservoir. Being more-or-less the same as the original, the remainder of this review is identical to the original Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire Review

The Blaster ::

nerf_super_soaker_zip_fire_3pack_box05_175Nozzle ::

The Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire features a very small, yet functional nozzle that produces a short burst of water. Being a small water blaster, the expected and resulting output and estimated range are not particularly high. Nevertheless, the stream seems decent, albeit brief. Of course, being low in size and output, streams from the Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire are easily affected by any wind.

Pump ::

The Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire uses a trigger-based pump mechanism. Unlike the Water Warriors Power Shot, the Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire does not have any added feature and the trigger, while smooth, does not yield any significant advantage over typical squirt gun trigger-based pumps. Pulling the trigger creates a near-instant stream, but the stream also only lasts as long as the trigger is moving. The force of the stream is fully dependant on how hard the user can squeeze the trigger with their finger.

Update: after some more use, it appears that some part of the internals (likely the trigger seal) leaks to some degree, allowing water to dribble out from the housing and onto the trigger, itself. This is rather disappointing considering the price of this product is more than double similarly performing competitor products, thus should have had better quality control.

nerf_super_soaker_zip_fire_3pack_box06_175Grip ::

The trigger and grip area on the Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire, akin to the current other Nerf Super Soaker models, are well moulded and quite comfortable to hold. Again, Hasbro Inc. spent a good amount of time refining their triggers and grips.

The Reservoir ::

The reservoir on the Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire holds about as much water as the similarly-sized Water Warriors Kwik Grip and slightly more than the Water Warriors Power Shot. The reservoir occupies most of the body of this water blaster. Akin to those Water Warriors models, the Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire also features a snap cap which provides a functional seal, but this one can be somewhat difficult to open sometimes.

Overall ::

As a whole, the Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire is a small, trigger-based water blaster that may be suitable for younger warriors. However, older users will find its output and range very limited. Perhaps the Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire is useful only for younger users or maybe for indoor use when one does not wish to get anything significantly wet. Of course, going up against any larger water blaster would be seriously discouraged unless one is looking to be cooled off without being able to reciprocate by any significant means. The Nerf Super Soaker Zip Fire has its use in only the most casual or very small scale water fight where any hit would count, but forget about being able to significantly soak your opponents.

Pros

Nice styling, comfortable to hold even for its small size. Decent capacity for a water blaster of this size. Comes as a pack of three, enabling a small water war game with a single purchase.

Cons

Very limited pump volume and output. Snap cap sometimes difficult to open. Thin streams easily affected by wind. Relatively expensive for its size and performance.
