The Nerf Super Soaker Zombie Strike Splatterblast is a new model by Hasbro Inc. for the 2015 Nerf Super Soaker line. It features 4 forward-facing nozzles and a light-up reservoir.
The Blaster ::
Nozzle ::
The Nerf Super Soaker Zombie Strike Splatterblast features four (4) forward-facing nozzles powered by a single pump. Streams fire is a parallel manner, though, at least for the sample being tested, the bottom-most nozzle pushes out streams with less for than the upper three.
Pump ::
The Nerf Super Soaker Zombie Strike Splatterblast is a pump-action water blaster, shooting water out its four nozzles with every pump. Unfortunately, as with 2014 Nerf Super Soaker pump-action models, the Splatterblast's pump suffers from an odd sort-of pump lag that prevents easy rapid firing.
Grip ::
The trigger and grip area on the Nerf Super Soaker Zombie Strike Splatterblast, akin to the current other Nerf Super Soaker models, appears to be well moulded and quite comfortable to hold. However, the button switch which activates the "glowing reservoir" feature is positioned on the back side of the grip where the skin between one's thumb and index finger would be while holding this blaster. It should also be noted that, to make the reservoir glow, this requires three (3) AAA batteries. As such, this switch may make this water blaster less comfortable to hold in the long run since this added bump may run/chafe against one's skin, particular if one's hands get wet during battle.
The Reservoir ::
The reservoir on the Nerf Super Soaker Zombie Strike Splatter holds an acceptable amount of water for a trigger-based water blaster. The reservoir cap must be rotated to the right angle to permit it to be removed and/or put back on. However, its single hole air inlet may dribble slightly when the water blaster is pointed upwards.
Overall ::
As a whole, the Nerf Super Soaker Zombie Strike Splatterblast is an interesting, multi-nozzle blaster. While pump-action with a lighted reservoir, its nozzle configuration may prove interesting. As such, further testing is being considered for this item once it gets a little warmer outside.
Pros
Four nozzles/ four streams offers greater area coverage
Cons
Pump-action prevents continuous stream creation; light-up reservoir offers no functional value
