The Nerf Super Soaker XP20-AP is a modern re-release of the original Super Soaker SS 20 (1992). This water blaster has not been further tested, thus limited information is available about its actual performance.
Brief Overview .:
The Nerf Super Soaker XP20-AP appears to be a remake, but updated mold on the original Super Soaker SS 20. The handle appears a little thicker, the trigger is larger, and some other stylistic detailing differs from the original. On the packaging, Hasbro is highlighting the fact that the reservoir is made from recycled plastic (though one wonders if that is the case, why not make the majority or allof the water blaster from recycled plastic?)
Given its sturdier build, the performance of the XP20-AP is probably more along the lines of the performance of the original Super Soaker XP 20 as opposed to the original Super Soaker SS 20. Granted, with the limited reservoir capacity, having higher output also means that battlefield lifetime becomes short.
Overall, the Nerf Super Soaker XP20-AP probably makes for a good back-up blaster (or primary in very small skirmishes).

The Super Soaker xp 20-AP is a very small and light secondary weapon, or just a blaster used for very small water fights. These days most water guns are piston based, but this one is one of few that is air pressurized, wich makes it an instant win in my books. That said, its not to say this gun is perfect, as it shares some of the issues incountered with the XP30-AP and XP50-AP, but amplifies them much more due to its small size and water capacity. Here is a list of its pros and cons:
Pros:
1) Nice retro design.
2) Very easy to use and handle due to its small size and super lightweight with a solid grip.
3) Actually decent water output, due to the quite big nozzle (for the size of course), infact, it presents the same nozzle size (a 1X) as its bigger brothers XP30-AP and XP 100. However, this causes at the same time one of the issues i will talk about.
Cons:
1) As i was saying the output is not bad, but this means that the shot time is actually horrible (the reported seconds might not seem bad until you realize that those 5.2 seconds are till the gun completely stops shoting, while the time in wich the gun fires at the 7/8 meters of range is just around 2 seconds and shortly after the pressure is drastically reduced and the range reduces to 1-2 meters.
2) Another of the main issues is its very low reservoir capacity, wich makes it so that after just a few seconds of shooting you are already empty. This also means that in total you can shoot only 2 full shots before needing to reload the tank.
3) The pressure is effective only when the tank is completely full, after that the second half of the tank will be much less powerfull that the first, and the effective range will be halfed.
4) After reaching a certain pressure level, similarly to the XP30-AP and XP 100, a small stream of water starts coming out of the nozzle even if you don’t pull the trigger, making you waste water and making you incapable of increasing much further the pressure level. At the same time there is to say that this is a safety mechanism that was made so that there aren’t any chances or the tank exploding due to too much pressure (something that was reported to occasionally happen in the original version of this soaker in the 90s). That said, i still would have preferred to have a mechanism that let out the excessive air instead of pushing out the water.
5) One last minor annoyance is the pump that, while it works very well, it constantly slides down, making it look kind of ugly while using it.
Weapon statistics:
Tank capacity: 120 ml
Max Range at 45°: 7/8 meters
Max range aiming flat: 6.1 meters
Effective range ((the max range you will actually be able to get a decent hit on someone): 5/6 meters Shot time: 5.2 seconds, 2/2.5 seconds at effective range Shot Output: 60 ml
Average output per second:11.5 ml/s (*note: since the gun’s stream is much stronger in the first 2 seconds, this output is much higher in the first 2 seconds and much lower in the remaining 3)
Conclusions:
The XP20-AP is an ok secondary weapon for your last resort of defence after finishing your main weapons tank, however it is absolutely not advisable to use it as a primary weapon, as it is outclassed by most other water guns (except small pistols) and its capacity makes it so that you need to constantly be near a water supply. Overall i still like this Super Soaker due to its retro look and the air pressure system, so if you find it for 10 bucks or less in my opinion its not bad (of course if you are reading this many years after its release the price may be higher
