The Nerf Super Soaker Hydro Frenzy is a water blaster model released in 2022 by Hasbro Inc. It is a pump-action water blaster featuring dual-nozzles that may be locked into position or allowed to wriggle and sway depending on one's need or mood.
Brief Overview ::
The Nerf Super Soaker Hydro Frenzy is based on a simple pump action water blaster base with a snap-cap covering the fill port for the reservoir and a semi-tracked pump. Build is functional and capacity appears standard for a water blaster of its size. Its unique feature (and where its name is derived) is from its unique dual-nozzle arrangement. Unlike most water blasters where nozzles are fixede forward or in a particular firing pattern, the nozzle housing for the Hydro Frenzy can be slid into three positions: 1) extended/locked where both nozzles are fixed to fire forward; 2) semi-extended/loose where the nozzles are allowed to swing up-and-down to some degree; and 3) retracted/fully open a.k.a. "Frenzy Mode" where the nozzles are given the most amount of free-tubing, allowing the nozzles to freely move in any direction they please.
In "Frenzy Mode", anyone familiar with accidentally dropping a spraying garden hose or those familiar with some forms of silly sprinkers would expect that the streams generated by the Nerf Super Soaker Hydro Frenzy would blast out in random, uncontrolled patterns. Granted, the length and level of flexibility of the tubing somewhat restricts the movements of the nozzles such that their general directions remain towards the front. However, in the fully open mode, one does not expect to have clear aim control, instead relying on the more chaotic spray pattern to help land blasts on one's target.
While potentially fun to do in some situations, relinquishing control of a water blaster's nozzle somewhat defeats the purpose of using a water blaster in the first place. One can already do wilder shots simply by rapidly moving one's blaster around when firing. It is unclear what sort of advantage there is to allowing one's blater's noxzles to move more freely apart from just when one wishes to be silly.
Lilely fun to use for casual pool or beach parties during free-for-alls, the Nerf Super Soaker Hydro Frenzy is an interesting water blaster with limited added utility from its unique nozzle settings. Able to keep up with similarly-sized pump-action water blasters, the Hydro Frenzy is outclassed by larger pump-action as well as most pressurized water blasters.
Pros
Novel dual-nozzle settings allowing flexibility between fixed forward, limited movement, and "frenzy", fully-open mode.
Cons
Pump-action means not possible to do continuous blasts; utility of "Frenzy Mode" likely rather limited
