The Nerf Super Soaker Foam Fury is a foam-spraying blaster released in 2024 and manufactured by WowWee under the Nerf Super Soaker brand licensed from Hasbro Inc. This is a peculiar blaster in that it is meant to launch/lob foam from its nozzle as opposed to simply water. Whether people in general will feel happy about including such a blaster in a water fight remains to be seen.
Limited Review .:
The Nerf Super Foam Fury looks like a slightly more rounded pump-action water blaster, but name aside, there is nothing particularly notable about this water blaster's design, other than its name, that would give away the difference. Of course, unlike other water blasters, the Nerf Super Soaker Foam Fury's packaging also comes with a bottle of foam-mix. According to the packaging, the foam mix should last one for ~4 battles. According to the back of the package, to use the Nerf Super Soaker Foam Fury, one should: 1) Pour foam concentrate [into the reservoir]; 2) Fill [reservoir] with water; and 3) Mix gently. One problem here is that there is no measuring cup provided nor any notable markings to help one determine how much of the foam concentrate should be poured into the reservoir. Further, if one then fully fills and tops off the reservoir with water afterwards, thoroughly mixing would be more difficult to accomplish. On the other hand, if one uses too strong/airy a water source for refilling the reservoir, this may end up generating the foam too early, resulting in a messy fill and limited amounts of water actually entering the reservoir. Of course, there remains the added challenge that, even if one enjoys using this foaming blaster, there does not appear to be any way to just by more foam concentrate refills.
Foam generation challenges aside, we have not performed any testing on how the resulting foam feels, particularly if one gets it on one's face or in one's eyes by accident. There is the added concern that foaming/soapy solutions may leave marks or even lead to color being leeched out of some types of clothing. It is interesting to note that the packaging suggests one can get ~60 blasts from a full fill and that the range of each blast is ~15'. The limited range of each blast is undoubtedly due to the fact that foam is lighter and far less aerodynamic than a water stream can be. How well this blaster may perform if only using water remains to be seen.
At present, there are no plans to do further performance testing of this water blaster at iSoaker.com.
Overall, the Nerf Super Soaker Foam Fury is a peculiar foam blaster with questionable utility in an actual water fight. For those looking for a device to lob foam around at a distance of ~15', this is the blaster for you! For the rest of us, the Nerf Super Soaker Foam Fury is even questionable for use in a light skirmish and probably best left out of the game.
Pros
Simple pump-action blasting
Cons
Foam not likely appreciated by others in a typical water fight; only ~4 fills possible for foam; no measuring device provided to help guide proper amount of concentrate to add to the reservoir; very limited range
