It's Friday, nearing 6pm, and I'm still at work. Since I need to be here a little later today, I'm taking a moment to sit back and take a pic of my derk at work. As can be seen, my personal laptop sits on the right side with iSoaker.com (and WaterWar.net as well) open in Firefox. To its left is my work laptop (elevated on a wire stand behind the monitor in landscape orientation). My work laptop is connected to a docking station (not visible in this picture) that feeds the two monitors, one in portrait orientation (left-most monitor) and one in landscape orientation. I actually only just got my second workplace monitor yesterday (I put in a request for one a couple of weeks ago) and it was happily approved. Had I taken this picture a couple of days ago, there would've been a gap where the portrait-oriented monitor now stands.
As I work on a lot of confidential things, I minimized everything for this picture, but I usually have both monitors filled with a variety of windows displaying emails, folders/directories for sorting work files, a couple of web browsers for accessing web-based tools and applications, and, of course, various Microsoft Office products depending on the type of document I need to work on. On the right, a Macross VF-29 Valkyrie is watching over my desk. For those curious, a space heater is visible below my desk (under where the Valkyrie is located), since my office space is somewhat cool during the winter (cold enough that before I had the heater, I was finding it harder to type with cold hands). All is good now and thankfully the surface of my desk does not get hot from the heater below it.
